Overview

Lucca Gastronomy @ Bukit Jalil stands out as a compelling Italian dining experience tucked away in the vibrant industrial area of Taman Perindustrian Oug. Despite its humble kopitiam setting, it offers a surprising depth of flavor and finesse that you might expect from a dedicated Italian restaurant. The location adds an element of discovery—an intimate spot for those who seek genuine culinary craftsmanship over flashy ambiance.

The culinary focus here leans heavily on rustic Italian classics with a modern twist, evident in their signature Truffle Mushroom Soup. This starter is a harmonious blend of forest mushrooms and black truffle paste, enhanced by a rich layer of cream that warms both palette and soul. It's no wonder this dish is often cited as a must-try for visitors.

Main courses such as the Charred Pork Shoulder and Crispy Grilled Chicken Thigh reflect a sophisticated approach to comfort food. The pork shoulder, slow-cooked sous vide and finished on the grill, delivers tender, smoky, and well-seasoned meat complemented by a rosemary red wine reduction. The chicken thigh, marinated and paired with garlic cream sauce, highlights the kitchen's skill in balancing robust flavors and textures.

Lucca Gastronomy also excels with its seafood offerings and pastas. Risottos here are notable, although experiences vary—from a rich seafood pomodoro risotto that captures deep tomato and oceanic flavors, to a creamier crab risotto that melds sweetness and subtle citrus notes. Pasta dishes like the carbonara come richly prepared, featuring duck bacon and bold black pepper, while others strike a delicate balance, allowing key ingredients like prawns and mushrooms to shine.

The dining experience is approachable yet refined, appealing to local palate preferences without sacrificing authenticity. It suits a diverse audience, from casual diners craving a hearty meal to food enthusiasts eager to explore Italian flavors beyond the tourist trail. Although modest in space, the restaurant's charm lies in its unpretentious service and the quality of its dishes.

Customer feedback highlights Lucca Gastronomy’s ability to punch above its weight, with particular praise for its flavor profiles and presentation, often challenging preconceived notions about kopitiam-style dining and affordability. While a few dishes like the tiramisu and certain seafood items left some wanting more balance or ingredient refinement, the overall consensus is a well-crafted, satisfying menu that invites repeat visits.

For those in Kuala Lumpur seeking an authentic, well-executed Italian meal with thoughtful ingredients and creative execution, Lucca Gastronomy @ Bukit Jalil offers a rewarding choice. It champions quality, flavor, and accessibility, proving that great food transcends the space it occupies.

The crab meat risotto was slightly undercooked. It would be better if it were cooked a bit more thoroughly—after all, this is Malaysia, not Italy, and many people here may not be used to al dente rice. The blue mussels tomato soup was tasty and didn’t have that typical tomato-sauce-like flavor, which was a pleasant surprise. However, since frozen blue mussels don’t taste that great, it might be better to consider replacing them with another ingredient. The tiramisu and the white sauce were on the sweeter side, lacking a noticeable coffee flavor. The texture resembled more of a cheesecake rather than the usual light and creamy mascarpone-based tiramisu. The prawn Alfredo was decent; it would have been even better with just a touch more salt The prawn aglio olio’s saltiness and aroma were completely absorbed by the mushrooms, leaving the pasta a bit lacking in flavor. However, the texture of the noodles was quite good. The seafood pomodoro risotto was quite average — it leaned more towards a typical tomato sauce flavor. I requested the rice to be cooked a bit softer and not al dente and it turned out more suitable for my preference.

A hidden gem of an Italian restaurant tucked inside a humble kopitiam, serving surprisingly excellent and affordable Italian fare. The risotto and pasta were cooked perfectly al dente, with flavors that hit all the right notes. The seafood risotto was rich and savory, infused with a deep tomato and seafood essence. In contrast, the crab risotto offered a creamier profile, blending the sweetness of crab and earthiness of mushrooms with a touch of citrus from lemon and a gentle kick from chili. The pasta alla carbonara was indulgently creamy, elevated by the boldness of black pepper and the smoky depth of duck bacon. For dessert, the tiramisu struck a lovely balance—not overly sweet, with just the right mix of cream cheese, sponge, and coffee liqueur. Overall, the quality of the food far exceeds expectations, especially at such an affordable price point—RM10–30 per person. Definitely a spot worth seeking out.

You wouldn’t believe if I tell you this is not high class restaurant. Greatly impressed by its presentation and taste. Both of the young guy manage this stall in a kopitiam but it’s much more tastier than Western food in other restaurant. Keep it up! The mushroom soup and bread is superb!

If you're looking for an affordable yet elevated dining experience, this hidden gem in Loktim Kopitiam is a must-visit. Despite being tucked away in a humble kopitiam setting, the food here is nothing short of exquisite. The presentation is delicate and well-plated, and the flavors are just as impressive. One standout dish for me was the duck breast, which was cooked to tender perfection. The accompanying red wine sauce deserves a special mention – it’s rich, layered, and truly enhances the dish, leaving a lasting impression. They also offer a variety of pasta options at incredibly affordable prices, it's hard to find places with such quality and this price. Each dish reflects the chef's sincerity and passion, evident in every bite. Highly recommended!
